What We Offer

St Aidan’s Primary school is a vibrant learning community where excellence in education is our goal. The school offers students access to outstanding facilities which assist in providing high quality learning and teaching experiences.

The School

St Aidan’s is nestled in a residential area in Rooty Hill, adjacent to an attractive park. There is an aura of calmness and serenity that encompasses the playground and learning areas. Native birds are regular visitors to the many native trees surrounding the school.

The Playground

Students have two large areas in which to play at recess and lunch. Both playgrounds are equipped with shade provisions and seating. Students are provided with courts for handball and basketball. Students are supplied with play equipment such as balls, skipping ropes and hoops to assist them in their play. Adjacent to the school is a spacious and well-equipped park that students and staff are able to utilise for sporting events.

Administration is a welcoming environment for visitors, parents and students. The staff has access to numerous work rooms, complete with technology for class preparation and planning. The office is spacious park.

State-of-the-art technology

St Aidan’s utilises the latest technology in order to help the students and staff keep pace with the rapidly changing world in which we live.

All students have access to networked computers, internet access and interactive whiteboards to link technology to the curriculum. There is laptop technology for individualised student learning and desktop computers which allow students to work collaboratively.

Technology is used to complement learning as well as explicitly develop technology skills. In addition to computers, students learn to use ipads, digital cameras, scanners and data projectors in order to enhance their learning.

General Learning Resource Centre

The St Aidan’s school library is an important aspect of school life and learning. The students access the library not only to borrow books, but to further develop their information skills.

These skills include areas such as researching, note taking and using technology. Technology is used not only to access information, but also to publish work.

All students visit the library weekly to borrow books. Students require a library bag in order to protect their borrowed books. Kindergarten to Year Two students are able to borrow one book each week, Years Three and Four are able to borrow two books, and Years Five and Six may borrow three books. Students are able to borrow the books for two weeks before returning them.

Book Week is a key event at St Aidan’s. Each year a theme is selected by the Book Council of Australia. Many activities are planned around the theme and are designed to encourage a love of literacy.
