Kindergarten students shared their learning with Mr Atalla
Edmund Atalla, Labor candidate for Mt Druitt joined in the Catholic Schools Week celebrations at St Aidan’s Primary, Rooty Hill this week.
Mr Atalla joined students, teachers, parents and the school community at Mass on Wednesday 11 March celebrating the theme for Catholic Schools Week – educating for today and tomorrow.
Following Mass, parents were welcomed into classrooms to see students at work and share in their learning. Mr Atalla enjoyed a tour of a number of classrooms with Principal Dr Elizabeth Ricketts to meet students and parents and shared his local knowledge of the Mount Druitt area and the first settlers who lived there.
‘It’s great to see the way the students work together in the classroom and the excellent results achieved by Dr Ricketts and her dedicated staff,’ said Mr Atalla.
Parent Representative Council President, Selina Calleia met with Mr Atalla and encouraged him to support investment in Catholic education.
Following the tour, Mr Atalla met with representatives from the parent community over morning tea.

Last Term students successfully worked through the Design Thinking Process to create a range of solutions to problems relating to rubbish within the school. Students practised their 3D designing skills on Makers Empire and worked together as teams to communicate their thinking. We are excited to see Year 5 confidently use this process again this term! Keep up your creative thinking Year 5!

During Term 2, students focused on Hope and Jesus in Religion. Students were given the task of creating freeze frames that show their understanding of God’s Kingdom. Well done Year 5 on creating these frames and explaining your ideas. We can’t wait to explore Church this term with some exciting learning experiences!

This term, we took Soccer teams from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 to the Soccer Gala Days. The students worked hard and showed their talents as they played each game. Thank you to the teachers and parents who attended these days, we couldn't do it without you.

It’s not all bookwork in 4 Blue. Lessons are especially fun when it’s a practical lesson and involves water play! Our Year 4 Blue students were highly engaged to estimate and accurately measure the capacity (internal volume) of containers. By the end of the unit, all were very good with their estimations. What a social activity it is to paint! 4 Blue students showed their artistic skills in sketching an Australian animal before painting with acrylic paint.

On Friday, June 28th, our amazing students participated in the Walk-a-Thon, and we are thrilled to share that we've raised $23,000 so far! Our goal is $40,000, and with your continued support, we know we can get there. The students had the best time and looked absolutely amazing while walking for a great cause. 4 Red have made it to the end of Term 2. YAY! What an adventure with so many activities: performed well in the Athletics Carnival, 2-time recipient of the Attendance award; learning various maths activities; participated in National Simultaneous Storytelling; enjoyed our Reading group sessions; held a Q&A session about our Reconciliation; completed Science experiments; attended the Sydney Writers Festival; watched the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; and one way to end Term 2 - Pyjama Day! So for now, enjoy the school break. Have a safe holiday. 4Reds are signing off!
